📚 Highbridge Voices Academic Enrichment Program
Complementing its world-class music instruction, the Highbridge Voices Academic Enrichment Program empowers students in grades 3–12 to succeed academically, build confidence, and prepare for the future. Grounded in Highbridge Voices’ mission to “inspire excellence,” the academic program goes far beyond traditional classroom instruction—providing individualized support, enrichment opportunities, and exposure to new pathways for learning and achievement.
Open Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at our Main Campus (1360 Merriam Avenue, Bronx, NY 10452), students benefit from a comprehensive curriculum that supports their development as both scholars and artists.
🧠Academic Enrichment Services
At Highbridge Voices, students receive a mix of group and individualized academic support to help them become successful students and engaged learners. From daily homework help to targeted tutoring and hands-on enrichment, our academic programming is designed to meet students where they are and help them grow.
Academic Support: Students receive daily homework help, subject-specific tutoring, and skill-building activities focused on key academic areas such as literacy and mathematics. Certified teachers and academic mentors guide students through challenging material while helping them build confidence and independent study skills.
STEM & Enrichment Classes: In addition to core academic support, students participate in hands-on STEM activities, beginner coding classes, and engaging visual arts workshops that promote creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking.
Integrated Scheduling: Academic sessions are strategically integrated into each student’s afterschool schedule, ensuring a healthy balance between intellectual development and artistic expression. Students attend classes and receive support at the same time and location as their music instruction, reducing barriers to learning and promoting consistency.
Holistic Development: The program nurtures the whole child—fostering critical thinking, personal discipline, goal-setting, and leadership skills. Whether working on a math problem or participating in a group project, students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and contribute positively to their community.
🤝 Collaborative Partnerships
Fordham University: In partnership with Fordham University, Highbridge Voices offers enhanced academic support through university volunteers and education students who provide up to four hours per week of tutoring in subjects such as math, reading, science, social studies, and writing. These sessions help students strengthen their content knowledge while developing effective study habits and test-taking strategies. In addition to tutoring, Fordham students serve as mentors—offering encouragement, guidance, and cultural enrichment that deepens student engagement and fosters a positive academic mindset.
The Dr. Richard Barnett Foundation/ A-List: The Dr. Richard Barnett Foundation works to inspire youth to pursue higher education and equips them with the tools to get there—particularly for students from underrepresented backgrounds. In partnership with A-List Education, this initiative provides structured college readiness support for 9th and 10th grade students at Highbridge Voices. Students gain early insight into the college process and receive tailored support to help them navigate the path to higher education, with a special focus on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and equity in admissions.
