Audition
In order to audition for Highbridge Voices, students must be in fourth or fifth grade at the time of the audition.
Preparing for an audition can be a little scary sometimes, but it’s not too scary if you know what to expect. One of our music staff members will ask you to sing some short phrases and clap some rhythms. It is also a good idea to be ready to sing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” and “Happy Birthday”. If you don’t know those songs, then you can prepare another short folk song. We have also included a short video here of two of our students demonstrating a typical audition.
After you are done singing, you will meet a member of our academic staff and you will do a short read-aloud and some basic math problems (addition, subtraction, and multiplication).
The entire audition takes about ten minutes to complete. Once you’re done, you will receive a letter in the mail letting you know your status. If you do not get in the first time around, you can audition at a future date until you are in sixth grade.
